Ah, so now I get it.
Apparently, the Sporting Working Group (who seem to be made up of people from the teams themselves) are keen to have a points system that gives greater encouragement to drivers by rewarding them more for 1st and 2nd places, hence the proposal to readjust the new points system.
A bigger gap would exist between first and second, second and third, and all the other points would be reduced a bit.
This needs to be ratified by the FIA at their meeting next month, but looks likely to happen.
Which begs the question... WHY DIDN'T THE FIA ASK THE TEAMS IN THE FIRST PLACE?!
(Oooh - get the culture vulture! Tonight's musical offering is Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Opus 67. conducted by Herbert Vov Karajan. Really!)
