Incredible. At some point today, this blog passed the 20,000 page views mark. What's even more startling is that, whilst it took 27 months to reach 10,000, it's only taken a further 4 to get to 20,000. And I still have absolutely no idea why. Seemingly, the post most viewed is the 'Fantasy Formula 1: the other stuff' from the Spanish GP last year which, as far as I can tell, is only mildly interesting at best. Of the 20,000 views, nearly 12,000 are from the USA, and about 4500 from the UK. I've no idea why that might be either, apart from the fact that America is jolly big, and has a lot of people in it. From my first post on the 8th of December 2009, I notice that how I blog has changed - from short, observational pieces, to longer article-length items, largely brought on by my entry in the North West Evening Mail's 'Big Blogger' competition, and subsequent offer of a newspaper column (even though I only came second). Tip of the week - never visit your Doctor on the first day of your week off work - unless you have a desire to spend your 'holiday' miserable. I'm now being referred to see a physiotherapist for my dodgy back, and am on antibiotics just in case my little tick chums gave me more than just a bite, and actually let me have Lyme Disease as a thank you for having me for lunch. Red bull found themselves un-mapped in the space of a week, their slightly iffy loophole exploitation being swiftly brought into line by a redefining of the rule book. It may have been that, the complications of the twisty Hungaroring, or (more likely) good old-fashioned bad luck, but Webber found himself out in Q2, as he got shuffled down the order into 11th, as the time ran out. Sometimes there's a wonderful "huh?" moment in F1. Today's was when the lights didn't go to red at the start, but flashed green and yellow. I'm sure all the drivers are briefed, and everyone knows the drill, but they all just sat there - no-one wanted to be the first to move. In the most high-tech sport in the world, it took Charlie Whiting waving at them to make them go. To be honest, it wasn't the most thrilling of races, but Happy Hamilton "The slow boys won't get out of my way! It's not fair! Boohoohooo - I'm telling Charlie!" winning does mean the front end of the points table still looks deliciously tight.
